Nazir Tanbouli is a British-Egyptian artist, born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1971, known for his drawing, painting, and large-scale mural work. He comes from a family of painters, including his uncle Ibrahim El-Tanbouli and great-uncle Lotfy El-Tanbouli, an Egyptologist and painter. Tanbouli studied at the University of Alexandria Faculty of Fine Arts and later earned an MA in Fine Art (Printmaking) from Camberwell College of Arts in the UK. He gained recognition early in his career, winning the 1993 Grand Drawing Prize at the National Salon of Youth in Egypt and participating in the Cairo Biennale. After moving to the United Kingdom in 2002, he lived in Nottingham and then London, where he co-founded Studio 75, an artist-run space. His artistic practice is deeply rooted in drawing, which he considers a daily meditative practice and the foundation for much of his work, often referring to it as
